I recently went to celebrate a friend’s birthday at Jackson’s Real Food Market in Bryanston. They pride themselves on their food being real and healthy; offering low carb, low sugar, vegan and Banting options – something for the more health conscious. Luckily for me… bacon was still an option ;-)

I enjoy long leisurely weekend breakfasts (as well as an occasional Saturday morning sleep in) so I really loved the fact that they offer ‘all day breakfasts’. The menu boasts quite a large selection. I opted for the toasted sourdough bread topped with scrambled eggs, bacon and avocado. It was beautifully presented and it tasted good too! Jackson’s Real Food Market also offers a range of freshly pressed, raw fruit and vegetable juices as well as some delicious smoothies. My favourite was the Mango Tango smoothie – a concoction of mango, orange juice, milk, yoghurt, vanilla extract and honey. Really delicious and it’s not a bad thing that you feel good and healthy drinking it too ;-)

While the menu does give fair warning and state that food is freshly made and that at least 25 minutes will be required to prepare meals, the service at Jackson’s was terribly poor. A buzzing (and evidently very popular restaurant) however, the staff and kitchen clearly struggled to cope with the demand on a busy Saturday. The restaurant has a lovely roof top feel to it with a covered outside seating area. Give them a try for a good healthy meal or an afternoon breakfast!
