Reign Restuarant is the latest welcome addition to the Joburg restaurant and bar scene. An absolutely gorgeous spot located within the 5-star Peermont D’orelae Grande Hotel at Emperors Palace. Reign is a contemporary trendy dining space encompassing green tones and brassy golds. The spectacular feature bar is something truly special.

This beautiful restaurant boasts an extensive menu showcasing fantastic elegant cuisine complimented by fine South African wines and exquisite cocktails. The kitchen is lead by the talented Chef Themba Bawuti (previously of the luxury game lodge, Waterberg 57). You can look forward to the likes of seabass ceviche with lime and chilli oil, confit garlic hummus with grilled chestnut and shitake mushrooms, a broccoli dish with mushroom ketchup and nori and beautifully prepared cognac beef fillet as well as some phenomenal desserts including their fabulous baklava with rose infused syrup, green pistachio and lemon chantilly cream.

While I was fortunate enough to attend the launch on the 1st of December, Reign officially opened its doors to the public on the 5th of December. The staff are amazing; so very helpful and eager to please. The food is incredible and you’ll absolutely love the array of creative cocktails available at this gorgeous new spot. If you’re keen for a treat, booking an overnight stay at the D’orelae Grande Hotel comes highly recommended. I look forward to visiting Reign again soon.

    Good morning,

We went to the Reign Restaurant yesterday for Christmas lunch. It was an amazing experience our waiter Peter was excellent the food was great. The only negative was the unprofessional senior manager on duty Christmas day. We booked on dine plan for 3 people and paid in full for Christmas lunch. My son and his friend wanted to join us for Christmas day lunch so we needed to book 2 more seatings. My fiancé went through to the restaurant on the 12/12/24 to book two more places at our table and paid for the Christmas lunch. We had a lovely afternoon until we received our bill. We had now paid in full for our Christmas lunch so all we needed to pay for was our drinks . When we got our bill it was totally incorrect. We explained to Peter we had paid for our meals prior to arriving.. Showed him the email from Dine plan and the card machine slip for the extra two. He said he would call his supervisor. The lady came to our table to
With the reservations list. We explained it all and she said she would need to call her manager. Well the manager came to the table not even introducing himself said we hadn’t paid. After showing him the email from Dine plan that the three Meals had been paid and giving him the card slip for the other two he went off to investigate it. He came back to say they had picked up the payment but hadn’t allocated it. He went on to say anyone could produce a card slip. Like for real. The card slip had Reign on it and the amount for 2 Christmas lunches. He was very unprofessional. He should have called my fiance into the restaurant when we said the bill was incorrect. But he chose to tell us we hadn’t paid infront of our guests and the other guests in the restaurant. I found this extreamly embarrassing. He was diffnatly not professional in handling the situation. I myself run a business and we don’t allow goods to be released without payment. But I would never tell the customer infront of everyone in our store it’s not paid. I would call the customer one side and then investigate the situation. He made us feel dishonest and embarrassed. Please send your senior manager for some in-store training on how to deal with customers. At the endvofvthe day it’s the customers that pays his salary.

    • Hi Deolinda
We don’t represent the restaurant. We are a food and travel publication. Our experience at Reign was fantastic. Perhaps get in touch with the restaurant directly.
