Leopard Lodge is situated in the Magaliesberg Mountains overlooking Hartebeespoort Dam. Just a short drive from Johannesburg and Pretoria, it’s the perfect spot for a relaxing lunch.

My mom and I visited Leopard Lodge on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. On our arrival we were seated in the shaded tranquil gardens where we enjoyed a glass of wine while soaking up the gorgeous views. Shortly after, we were shown to our table where we were treated to an incredible three course meal. We began our meal with the tempura prawns starter; a crunchy and tasty treat served with homemade aioli. For mains, both my mother and I opted for Sunday roast of the day. The beef was cooked to perfection and served with a side choice of either creamy mashed potatoes or roast potato wedges alongside fresh seasonal vegetables and a delectable gravy. This roast was one the best I have had in years. The potato wedges were perfectly roasted with that ideal golden crunchy texture. Both my mom and I thoroughly enjoyed the roast of the day. We ended off our meals with dessert. I selected the chocolate and pecan nut brownie. This was a freshly baked decadent chocolate brownie served with ice cream and a shot of Amarula; a truly successful South African version of the traditional chocolate brownie. My mom chose the Eton mess – another lovely dessert boasting fresh seasonal berries, meringue, lemon curd and whipped cream.

The service at Leopard Lodge was really great and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Leopard Lodge is the ideal place for a peaceful Sunday lunch to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. I look forward to visiting again soon.
