I recently attended the launch of a brand new hotel called The Northcliff. This boutique hotel is situated in the beautiful elevated Johannesburg suburb of Northcliff (no surprises there – the name is a bit of a giveaway). The hotel houses the lovely Kranz Restaurant which looks out from a vantage point onto the most spectacular views of Johannesburg.

Upon our arrival at The Northcliff, we were greeted with some bubbly and delicious canapés. Shortly after, we were seated inside the beautiful restaurant boasting large glass windows and elegant interiors. We were then treated to a three course meal at the newly established Kranz Restaurant. The first course was the prawn starter which was served with chimichurri and coconut rice. The prawns were perfectly cooked and deliciously seasoned making for a very tasty starter. The main course was duck breast served with a Yorkshire pudding and fennel – the duck was superb. For dessert we were treated to malva pudding with a side of homemade ice-cream and delicious custard. This dessert was a real treat.

The service at Kranz Restaurant was great and we were well attended to. The Northcliff boutique hotel boasts some really phenomenal views of Johannesburg, making them the perfect spot for a romantic quiet dinner or sundowner cocktails after work. I look forward to visiting again soon.
