I’ve recently been introduced to Peacock Coffee and Tea. Being the kind of person who just cannot function till I’ve had my morning coffee fix, I was eager to try their coffee. While I believe I need my daily morning caffeine jump start, I try not to overdo it throughout the day and tend not to have coffee in the evenings. When I’m at home relaxing in the evenings after a day of work, I prefer to opt for some fruit teas. A glass of wine every now and then doesn’t hurt either ;-)

Peacock Coffee and Tea Traders are a South African company and have been around since 1966. They specialise in fine tea and gourmet coffee. They’ve got expert tea blenders who choose from some of the best teas around the world. They pride themselves on their ability to find the best quality coffee from around the globe ranging from strong African blends to some of the very popular South American options from places like Brazil, Costa Rica and Cuba. Peacock Tea and Coffee is based in Cape Town with 11 franchises throughout the Western Cape. They also have a branch in Johannesburg, in Rosebank Mall.

I popped into Peacock Coffee and Tea in Rosebank Mall on a Sunday morning. I tried a cup of the house blend cappuccino while I browsed around the shop. They stock a large variety of teas including black tea, exotic tea, fruit infusions, green teas, herbal tea, oolong tea, rooibos tea and white and yellow tea. Their coffee is available in a range of blends including Africa Arabica, Medium Roast, Café Imperial, Premium Gold Espresso, Old Vienna and Cappuccino Tuscany to name a few. They also stock an array of flavoured coffees and their coffee is available whole, ground or in capsules. The staff were very helpful and made a few suggestions of teas and coffee that I should try. I opted for the Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee which was ground up in the shop for me to take home. I also chose the Lemon Sherbet, Pineapple and Ginger, Mango, Goji Raspberry and Berries of the Forrest fruit teas. I can definitely say that I’m a fan of their Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee and I absolutely love the fruit infusion teas. My favourites so far are the Lemon Sherbet and Berries of the Forrest. The Lemon Sherbet is very refreshing with a subtle tang. It’s blended in Germany and contains apple bits, sweet blackberry leaves, white hibiscus petals, lemon grass and lemon granules. While I personally enjoy the fruit infusion teas hot, you can also cool them in the fridge and enjoy them as an ice tea. The added health benefits of fruit infusion teas is just another reason why you’ll feel great enjoying them. If you’re like me and need your morning fix of great quality coffee and enjoy trying new and healthy teas, give Peacock Coffee and Tea Traders a try. I look forward to popping in again sometime soon to try out some other coffee blends and fruit infusion tea flavours.
