February 27, 2017A few months ago I decided to try out Patatchou Patisserie in Rivonia. I was actually introduced to Patachou by my aunt who was visiting South Africa from the UK. She was staying in Rivonia at the time of her visit and stumbled across their little boutique patisserie in Rivonia Boulevard. When I tried the box of macarons she had brought me I was convinced that I had to pay them a visit. Suffice to say it was love at first taste ;-)
I popped in to Patachou on a Saturday afternoon. Their quaint little boutique patisserie is filled up with the most beautiful looking treats behind the cleanest glass (I think a staff member cleaned the glass displays about three times during my hour and a half visit). I felt like I was in a scene of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory; everything looked absolutely delicious. I ordered a macaron milkshake. These are made from the patisserie’s traditional French style macarons. The milkshakes are available in various macaron flavours and is even accompanied by a single macaron on the side. The praline macaron lived up to my very first memory of it being nothing short of amazing! I also ordered a lemon meringue tart which I had my eye on since walking past the glass display. This too was delicious. It had a crunchy base with a smooth creamy lemon curd filling and a perfectly golden brown light and fluffy meringue topping. I’m salivating just thinking back on my experience.
All their treats are freshly made off site daily and dropped off at the boutique store. The service was good and this little patisserie has a cosy snug layout. I will definitely be back even if it’s just to order a takeaway box of the best macarons I’ve had!
