I was recently introduced to The Braai Room in Fourways. The Braai Room – officially just over one year old now – is a restaurant extension of Country Meat butchery. They specialise in quality beef straight from their very own farm in Kroonstad which proudly boasts ethical and sustainable farming practices.

We arrived at The Braai Room midday on a Saturday for lunch and started with some cocktails. We ordered a few starters for the table to share. These included the pork nuggets; slow roasted pork belly, crumbed and fried served with a homemade mango chutney dip… wow, wow, wow! The nuggests were crispy, tasty, heavenly little bites! We also chose the ‘bacon and cherry oepsies’ starter. This was streaky bacon skewers in a sweet sticky cherry sauce – absolutely delicious! The last starter for the table was crumbed mushrooms served with a tasty homemade tartare sauce. For my main I opted for the 21 day matured beef fillet with a creamy pepper sauce and a side of spinach and feta. The beef fillet was superb! Having been served straight off of the braai, it was flavourful and very tasty. The great quality certainly exceeded my expectations. I really loved the creamy pepper sauce too. I ended off my meal with ice cream and chocolate sauce. The chocolate sauce was served in a side dish, thick and piping hot. Loved this simple, yet delicious dessert.

I am so glad that I was introduced to The Braai Room. I’m a big meat fan and theirs is most definitely fantastic! The portions are very generous; great value for money indeed. The restaurant has a lovely layout with modern and stylish finishes. We were served by our waiter, Prince, and he certainly did make us feel like a King and Queen ;-) I look forward to returning to The Braai Room again soon!
