The 6th edition of The Best Chef Awards, powered by Perlage, took place from the 18th till 20th of September. The awards took place in the beautiful city of Madrid; in collaboration with the Community of Madrid and the City Council of Madrid. The awards programme consisted of three exciting days.

The first day comprised of “Area Talks”, a day in which chefs, journalists and specialists took part in panel discussions and heated debates. These discussions took place in the beautiful Casino de Madrid. Some of the discussions around ‘Food and Peace’ included speakers such as Diego Guerro, Fatmata Binta, Alena Solodovichenko, Rafael Tonon and Geeta Bansal. Further discussions took place around the political correctness of the industry where we heard from the likes of Alex Atala, Eric Vildgaard, Leonor Espinosa, Malgorzata Minta, Alexandra Forbes and Dabiz Muñoz.

The second day was that of “Food Meets Science”, a day dedicated to showcasing chefs in action as well as knowledge sharing by industry experts at the Goya Theatre. Here we were inspired as we witnessed chefs at work. Some of these chefs included Franco Pepe, Natsuko Shoji, Massimo Bottura, Jessica Rosval, Josh Nilan and Antonio Bachour. We were also treated to some fascinating presentations by industry leaders such as Shai Hayman, John Feeney, Joke Putsey, Darrin Daniel, Andoni Luis Aduriz and Hektor Monroy.

During these three days the crème de la crème of the culinary world – including chefs, journalists, gastronomes, restauranteurs and writers – gathered to celebrate the very best in the industry. Throughout these three days, we were treated to the most amazing food and drinks by The Best Chef partners. Some of them included caviar by Antonius Caviar, champagne by Champagne Perrier- Jouët, chocolate by Valrhona, coffee by Difference Coffee, rum by Matusalem, gin by GinRaw Barcelona, jamόn (cured ham) by Arturo Sanchez, wine by Graf von Weyher and much more. We were also treated to a lovely dinner at Atelier Casa Jose as the pre-event kick off.

The awards programme culminated in the official gala awards ceremony which took place, on the third day, on the evening of Tuesday the 20th of September. During the gala awards, the Top 100 chefs were announced, led by none other than Spanish Chef Dabiz Muñoz, who took the title of the world’s best chef for the second year in a row.
