The Kyalami branch of BBQ Workshop was established within the last year. Having heard great things about their burgers and ribs, I decided to pay them a visit.

I arrived at BBQ Workshop on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. They’re located in the new Kyalami Corner shopping centre. The restaurant has a very relaxed and casual feel to it, encouraging shoppers to take a break and enjoy a quick bite to eat. I started with a cocktail; the ‘electric lemonade’. This was a lovely and refreshing concoction of vodka, monin blue curacao and lemonade. I caught a glimpse of someone else’s halloumi starter. It looked so great that I just couldn’t resist this. My benedict opted for the ‘cheese balls’ starter. They were homemade cheese croquettes served with a mango chilli sauce. Loved these tasty little cheesy bites. The starters at BBQ Workshop were certainly delicious. For my main meal I chose the ‘Beef-teki’ mini burgers. These were two little 100% beef burgers served with fresh lettuce and tomato. I enjoyed the burgers with a side of a fresh cut fried potato chips. The burger patties were juicy and delicious. My benedict selected the half kilogram of pork ribs with a side of sweet potato chips. The sweet potato chips, unfortunately, weren’t quite as crunchy as they looked. But none the less they were well seasoned and tasty.

The food at BBQ Workshop was simple, homemade and enjoyable. It’s also really great value for money. The service was good and we were well looked after during our visit. I will certainly be back again some time for those amazing cheese balls.
